Randwick District War Memorial
Description
Sandstone cenotaph standing in a small triangular reserve known as High Cross Park. The memorial displays dedicatory plaques and a bronze laurel wreath, and is accompanied by a flag staff. Surrounding the memorial is a landscaped garden consisting of small evergreen and native shrubs, with rosemary for remembrance. This memorial is unusual in that the names of more than four thousand First World War veterans, inscribed on a parchment roll, are contained within the structure.
The memorial is located opposite The Prince of Wales Hospital on Avoca Street.

This plaque, unveiled by the mayor of the city of Randwick Councillor Chris Bastic on Monday, 14th August, 1995 is in honour of the men and women who served Australia in time of conflict during World War II

Within this cenotaph lies a scroll of parchment containing names of Randwick residents over four thousand of whom served the Empire in the Great War 1914 -1918
